Apprentice advice from Entrepreneur of the Year 2009 - Andy Gilbert - 09 Jun 2009
So the Apprentice has ended for one more year. I predicted that the final would be between Kate and Yasmina and went public that my money was on Yasmina so I am delighted with the outcome. Based on the principles of the Go MAD Thinking System, I would offer the following advice to each of them as they now embark on no doubt illustrious careers: For Kate: 'You need to show more of your 'Reason Why'. The criticism that you can be rather robotic and cold can be overcome quickly if you share your vision and drive and personal passion with others. Open up more. Involve others in your thinking and don't think you have to be perfect all of the time.
Andy's thinking wins the day (again) - Ros Palmer - 29 Apr 2009
Well, we are all thinking clearly again after a few fuzzy heads following an amazing evening at the Leicestershire Business Awards on Friday. It is always a good night out and always a pleasure to be a finalist (we were finalists in two categories) but the night was made outstanding by Andy Gilbert winning The Entrepreneur of the Year Award. And against some very stiff competition.
Watch Your Thinking - Andy Gilbert - 14 Apr 2009
“Who is to blame for the economic recession?” and “How long will it go on for?” appear to be common, yet wasteful, questions in the minds of many at present. Perpetuated by the press and popularised by the masses - who could be using their minds to find solutions and ways forward - these type of questions serve to illustrate the low quality, problem focused thinking that permeates our society.
How to be happy - Ros Palmer - 07 Apr 2009
How happy are you? Go on, on a scale of 1 - 10 at this particular moment what is your level of happiness? Does it vary from work to home? Day to day?
According to the latest research by GfK NOP for the Happiness Formula series on BBC 2, people in Britain are less happy than in the 1950s despite the fact that we are three times richer. Indeed, people saying that they are "very happy" has fallen from 52% in 1957 to just 36% today.
University Challenge puts thinking back on top - Ros Palmer - 04 Mar 2009
Well, I for one am saddened to hear that Gail Trimble and her fellow team members from Corpus Christi College, Oxford University have been stripped of their University Challenge title due to one of the team no longer being a student. There is a lot of sympathy for the team on blog postings, most of which point out that the lengthy filming of the series makes it pretty much impossible for any final year student to be part of a team as they may graduate before the end of the series.
