Binge Thinking
Andy's thinking wins the day (again) - Ros Palmer
Well, we are all thinking clearly again after a few fuzzy heads following an amazing evening at the Leicestershire Business Awards on Friday. It is always a good night out and always a pleasure to be a finalist (we were finalists in two categories) but the night was made outstanding by Andy Gilbert winning The Entrepreneur of the Year Award. And against some very stiff competition.
The glossy awards brochure focuses on the fact that Andy and the team go into businesses and make them more efficient by changing the way their leaders and teams think. Which sounds good, but how can Andy prove it works? Well, by winning this award and previously by being in the final of ITV's Pokerface. Like the two finalists of Hells Kitchen - Linda and Ade, Andy may not have walked off with the crown in this one but he did enter to prove that he had superior thinking ability and won £65,000 for his efforts. Money that he is still giving away (check out www.gomadthinking.blogspot.com).
Poker and chess are games where the ability to out-think your opponent is key. War experts would argue that battles are won on strategic thinking (as well as bravery and superior weaponry) and as a fan of Prison Break, I tune in every week to see how Michael can use his superior thinking to outwit everyone around him. I particularly liked the way he escaped from a moving articulated truck last night by pushing out the doors with a drinks machine. He, like all great thinkers, always focuses on possibilities and solutions rather than problems.
So, what thinking system are you using right now and what would you like to 'win' by making it better?
