How much thinking time have you planned in your diary for the coming weeks, months and years? Will this be the decade where solution focused thinking skills are recognised by the wider world as the key to making a difference and business success? http://www.gomadthinking.com/binge_thinking/a-new-decade-of-thinking-andy-gilbert Winter wedding saved by solution focused thinking - Ros Palmer http://www.gomadthinking.com/binge_thinking/winter-wedding-saved-by-solution-focused-thinking-ros-palmer Mon, 04 Jan 2010 00:00:00 +0000 As we all turn our thoughts to the year ahead and return to work surely one of the stories that will be discussed over the coffee break in offices today, is that one of the most heartfelt Christmas stories was about the bride whose wedding was saved by involving others. http://www.gomadthinking.com/binge_thinking/winter-wedding-saved-by-solution-focused-thinking-ros-palmer Unlock the secrets of effective change http://www.gomadthinking.com/binge_thinking/unlock-the-secrets-of-effective-change Thu, 19 Nov 2009 00:00:00 +0000 Imagine feeling good about change, in control and eager for more. Sound like you? Or does it sound like a mindset you would like? At some point we all feel uncomfortable with change. The good new is there's always help at hand. We've been working successfully with change management for over 10 years, helping individuals, teams and organisations deliver cost effective change programmes that work. Our experiences have prompted us to revisit one of our most popular books "How to save time and money by managing organisationatil change effectively". We have updated and republished it as a practical and engaging workbook. http://www.gomadthinking.com/binge_thinking/unlock-the-secrets-of-effective-change Alliance Boots http://www.gomadthinking.com/binge_thinking/alliance-boots Wed, 18 Nov 2009 00:00:00 +0000 Alliance Boots is the world's largest pharmacy-led health and beauty retailer. Says the article in trendwatching.com/briefing: "Liquid Modernity" is Bauman's term for the present condition of the world as contrasted with the "solid" modernity that preceded it. According to Bauman, the passage from "solid" to "liquid" modernity has created a new and unprecedented setting for individual life pursuits, confronting individuals with a series of challenges never before encountered. Social forms and institutions no longer have enough time to solidify and cannot serve as frames of reference for human actions and long-term life plans, so individuals have to find other ways to organize their lives. http://www.gomadthinking.com/binge_thinking/liquid-modernity-ros-palmer You Ltd - Ros Palmer http://www.gomadthinking.com/binge_thinking/you-ltd-ros-palmer Wed, 16 Sep 2009 00:00:00 +0000 Multiple book offers arrive in my inbox every day but my attention was grabbed today by, Know Me, Like Me, Follow Me a book written by social networking Ecademy founder Penny Power that (sic) "takes you on a journey into the online business world". A sample chapter has the following paragraph: "To be an individual capitalist you have to create a brand – You Ltd, You Plc – be in demand, be known and have a globally trusted name that earns you respect and feeds you. To do this, you need to know your unique contribution, your talent, your skill, your passion and your reason for getting up in the morning. Money cannot be the only motivator. Your contribution has to be what creates the heartbeat that wakes you up". http://www.gomadthinking.com/binge_thinking/you-ltd-ros-palmer Get out and Make a Difference to your thinking - Ros Palmer http://www.gomadthinking.com/binge_thinking/get-out-and-make-a-difference-to-your-thinking-ros-palmer Mon, 10 Aug 2009 00:00:00 +0000 Go MAD Thinking is located in the beautiful countryside of Leicestershire, amidst Charnwood Forest and farmland. We work from a converted farm and much of our 'thinking space' is the amongst the six and half acres of land around us. We know the benefits to our thinking of being in such an environment. On a personal level, a walk in the country will always clear my head, lift a bad mood and generally make me happy to be alive. So it's with interest that I discovered that a recent study suggests that walking in nature might actually benefit your brain. http://www.gomadthinking.com/binge_thinking/get-out-and-make-a-difference-to-your-thinking-ros-palmer Happy Hour is 9 - 5 - Ros Palmer http://www.gomadthinking.com/binge_thinking/happy-hour-is-9-5 Mon, 06 Jul 2009 00:00:00 +0000 I just came across this book (Happy Hour is 9 - 5) by Alexander Kjerulf because I Googled:  'Happy at work'.   I was prompted by two recent articles, one in Psychologies magazine about workplace contentment and a report in People Management on Organisational Development (What does OD DO?).  All have a common theme regarding engaging workforces and making work a good place to be.  OD is "generally considered as a post-war response to the dehumanising effects of scientific management practices, which saw workers as small cogs within a well-oiled organisational machinery". http://www.gomadthinking.com/binge_thinking/happy-hour-is-9-5
