Leadership Thinking
Opening YOUR mind & helping YOU to think
Exclusive interview with Lynne Franks on why Sir Alan Sugar is wrong to say that women employers are more ruthless than men.We recently caught up with author, entrepreneur and lifestyle guru Lynne Franks. We wanted to find out what she had to say about a number of recent articles which are not favourable to women entrepreneurs. Sir Alan Sugar has recently commented that “Women bosses are more likely than men to discriminate against female employees with children” adding that, “women employers are more ruthless than men and more conscious of not employing other women”. Perhaps that is why he didn’t choose Claire ‘the Rottweiler’ Young in the final of the recent Apprentice series?
Find out what Lynne has to say on this and the huge increase she has found in women starting their own businesses and why strong women often get a hard time from the media in the way in which they are described. To listen to our exclusive interview click play.

Change and Cultural Transformation: Alliance Boots Goes MAD in three year change programme.
Opening OTHERS' minds & helping OTHERS to think
Few management and leadership programmes include pragmatic material about how to handle, manage and develop people through change and cultural transformation. You need to understand the psychology of change to unlock its secrets and to differentiate between external change and internal transition.
We’ve been using our thinking system to help Alliance Boots – the world’s largest pharmacy-led health and beauty retailer. It is undergoing major growth that will see 2,300 stores by the end of 2008. Central to the store’s success is Boots Supply Chain. It is responsible for managing the end-to-end flow of stock from suppliers to stores. With plans to restructure the entire Supply Chain, Matt Burton Supply Chain Learning & Development Manager of Boots explains how we have co-created a three-year change management programme.

Business Improvement: New negotiations skills to recession proof your business
Opening COLLECTIVE minds & helping TEAMS to think
Developing any business is a question of Kaizen – Japanese for continuous improvement of all aspects of your business and life. Never more is this true than in the uncertain recessionary times we are facing. Prices are going up, global currencies are fluctuating and the squeeze is being felt as house values fall and businesses take cautionary steps in terms of recruitment and investment.
This means that all the key principles of running a good business are never more important. Winning business and having the skills to negotiate successfully are now crucial. There are hundreds of courses and books on negotiations. I cut my teeth on the famous ‘Close That Sale!’ seminar back in the 80s just before hitting the road in my Ford Ghia to negotiate theatre programme contracts with 84 regional theatres in the UK. That was a baptism of fire!
I wish I had had the power of good negotiation skills practice combined with the Go MAD Thinking system. Happy to report, you can. Even if you are not familiar with the Go MAD® Thinking System, you will find that you can increase your negotiating skills quickly and effortlessly, for personal and business gain.More...
