Steve Ogle is Head of Learning & Development at Mercer – a global leader for trusted financial advice, products and services. Clients choose Mercer as a trusted partner to execute their programmes with solutions tailored to their business and environment.
So to create a coaching development programme for its own business who does Mercer turn to?
- Go MAD Thinking.
The Challenge
- To give leaders and managers coaching and thinking tools to help both themselves and others in the business to move forward in a period of ongoing change in all functions. Mercer developed a management development route from the bottom to the top but needed a coaching and thinking solution for those in senior positions. A sustainable set of tools and techniques was required that individuals genuinely bought into.
The Solution
- Go MAD Thinking first designed and delivered a six-month Solution Focused Thinking Programme in 2006. This programme had a strong emphasis on coaching others and teams involved in projects. The first group to go through the experience were chosen in part for their possible cynicism about ‘training’. The success of the first group provided Mercer with a real momentum to move forward with others in the UK business.
- Since 2006 over 120 individuals responsible for managing and leading teams and projects have experienced the six-month programme. The programme has evolved as Go MAD Thinking learn more about the business. Other business development opportunities have been designed as a direct result of this initial programme including developing relationships (both internally and with clients), personal effectiveness and pure facilitation of business projects.
- Go MAD Thinking continue to work with Mercer and are seen as a significant business development partner of the business in the UK.
