Leadership Thinking

Go MAD Thinking develops leadership thinking. We have been transforming managers into leaders for over a decade. We equip people with the skills to transform them into solution focused leaders who achieve results and inspire their people to make a difference.

/clients/aon.gifAon Global Risk Consulting (AGRC) is part of the world’s largest risk broking company. It offers a fully integrated range of services from risk identification to assessment and management of risk to its 1,400 clients worldwide.

Andrew Tunnicliffe is Managing Director. With 1,500 staff in over 70 locations worldwide he has overseen a period of restructuring regions in order to meet client needs and gear up for an ambitious growth strategy.

Go MAD Thinking Managing Director, Andy Gilbert, was invited as a keynote speaker at the AGRC global client conference in Montréal in September 2007 and received a fantastic response to his session on 'the uninsurable risk – how people think'. Following this, Go MAD Thinking facilitated a thinking workshop for the top 30 leaders and was asked to design and implement a Leadership Thinking Programme for the AGRC board and senior team.

The Challenge

To create a Leadership Thinking programme for key Aon Global Risk Consulting leaders who:

  • Are newly formed as a team, having faced significant change in the last 18 months
  • Lead a range of businesses in differing geographical locations with diverse competitive market conditions
  • Needed to create a common leadership language which could be applied to real issues (growing revenue by 100 per cent over a three year period).

The Solution

  • Go MAD Thinking was introduced to the wider leadership team at the annual global client conference by way of a keynote speech by Andy Gilbert and a Thinking Skills workshop by the Go MAD Thinking team.
  • Subsequently, the Go MAD Thinking team designed a two-day Leadership Thinking Programme for the Board and senior leaders to equip them with a shared thinking system and solution focused toolkit. A common leadership language was created and the Go MAD approach was applied to 10 key issues core to their strategic plan including the AGRC Revenue Engine – a five-point approach to growing revenue – and the goal of increasing revenue by 100 per cent over the next two years. A buddy coaching system, 90-day challenges and access to online development resources provided ongoing support.
  • The feedback was excellent as participants loved the solution focused tools for improving leadership and key business issues that the Go MAD Thinking System gave them. Go MAD Thinking was subsequently asked to design bespoke programmes for further leadership levels.
