Personal Thinking

"It's not stress that kills us. It is our reaction to it."
Hans Selye

Our next series of podcasts to be broadcast on iTunes all focus on key points and immediate actions for you to help yourself deal with pressure, tap back into the passion in your life and stay sane. The four upcoming episodes are: ‘How to deal with daily pressures’; ‘How to manage excessive pressure and remain sane’; ‘How to keep going when the going gets tough’ and ‘How to maintain your self-belief when facing challenges’.

This new series complements our successful ebook ‘How to develop a personal passion’ and we have a free copy available (normal retail price £2.45) for you today under our ‘Offers section’ of this ezine.

Feedback from our readers, tells us that at present, more than in recent years, you are being asked to face challenges at work and home that you need motivation for as they are essential, but you don’t enjoy them. You are overwhelmed with additional tasks and the pressure to perform well and you need badly to set a firm foundation for things you want to make a difference about. You may need to provide explanations for things you have not achieved and change your approach to doing things you don’t like. All of this is against a backdrop of keeping your fellow workers, those who report into you and even your loved ones staying positive and motivated.

Leadership Thinking

It's tough at the top - so involve others

It is back. Once again the whole concept of leadership, teamwork, respect and personal responsibility was laid bare infront of us each evening as a scary chef in an odd bandana dominated the last series of Hell’s Kitchen. Yes, it was Marco dominating his domain once again and, as Grant Bovey found to his cost, Marco believes that there can only be one leader in his kitchen. This, self-evidently, makes for good tv viewing, but is it a good example of leadership? Well, it is certainly a timely reminder for any leader to think about their responsibilities and leadership style.

So how do we use the Go MAD Thinking principles to help with leading people?

The challenge of leadership is to get people to do more than they normally would and to perform at a higher level of potential and to do this willingly. A leader, by definition, needs followers, real people who are inspired to climb on to the same bandwagon. Everyone, regardless of their position at work, can be a leader – the difference that leadership behaviour brings is in their approach to life and how they inspire others to make changes.
