Shortlisted for 'Best Coaching and Mentoring Initiative'

Fantastic to hear the news that our partnership work with Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust (TEWV) has contributed to them being shortlisted for 'Best Coaching and Mentoring Initiative' in the CIPD People Management Awards this year.



Using our brand name ThinkOn®, we committed to a project to enable everyone in the Trust, from front line to executive level, to use Solution Focused Thinking in their day-to-day work. This bespoke 'freedom' licence enables the widespread use of our intellectual property, tailoring it to specific needs, meaning the project will become self-sustaining.


The freedom licence model involves licensed Master Coaches being trained and supported by ThinkOn® to spread and embed the use of our Solution Focused Thinking tools and methodology. Culture change has been created organically through asking high quality questions in meetings and conversations. This has led to a shared common language throughout the organisation. Also, it promotes the importance of creating the space for thinking time to; develop clearer goals, be creative in idea generation and to solve problems. 



We call this 'Changing Culture One Conversation at a Time.'


Coaches are working at all levels of the organisation supporting individuals, facilitating events, and helping leaders to develop the purpose of processes and meetings. 



The Results Framework and supporting tools have been integrated into many areas including; business planning, meetings, appraisals, talent management, quality improvement and leadership training.


This approach has led to differences being made in the areas of well-being, retention, engagement, team management, leadership, cost savings and ultimately improvements in service.


Now, the focus is to increase the use of the methodology and tools in appropriate clinical settings with service users. Initial work in this area has shown the benefit this can have to help people define their own goals and think through how these could be taken forward.


The winner of the ‘Best coaching and mentoring initiative’ CIPD People Management award will be announced at the awards ceremony in September, so watch this space for further news.
