New practical ways to help yourself, your team & the NHS

An “involve others” request from Andy Gilbert

We can be certain that there will be more uncertainty in the next 30 days.

Hence, it has never been more necessary to spend time to think differently about key issues and new ways of doing things.

17 years ago, I wrote about how to help people through uncertainty. In the very first chapter of my book “How to Save Time & Money by Managing Organisational Change Effectively”, I highlighted how the secret to managing change was to enable the mental “transition” to happen. In other words, it is about facilitating more internal helpful thinking in response to external physical change. Better thinking; better action; better results.

Speaking with various NHS managers and leaders around the country each day, members of our team are simply in awe of their bravery, hard work and commitment. They are doing a remarkable job, caring for us and our loved ones in incredibly difficult and often harrowing circumstances. As I’m sure they have for you, the efforts of the NHS have inspired us and alongside the many brilliant organisations out there supporting the NHS, we want to help them make a difference too. Having worked in partnership with several NHS trusts over recent years, we reached out to NHS colleagues and asked them what was challenging them most. They said that during Covid-19 Departmental Heads were being asked to solve different types of problems whilst not being equipped with the range of skills to help them think differently and more productively.

Over the past 30 days, members of the Go M.A.D. Thinking team and our technology partners have been working to design a totally free mobile app that is full of our practical problem solving tools, videos, audio books, kick-starter possibility thinking questions (including a new pack of digital thinking cards). We have also added a smart way to provide a free coaching call for all NHS leaders to support them in getting the most benefit from the app.

This is the bit where you can potentially make a significant difference.

We haven’t got the resources to do this ourselves, so we need to apply the key Go M.A.D. principle to “involve others” and find 100 volunteer “Thinkers For Good”. If you have a strong “reason why” to support the NHS with some simple coaching skills then in the next 30 seconds you will have an opportunity to Go Make A Difference...

If you have completed a minimum of one day of Go M.A.D. Thinking training and can provide one to three hours per week to provide telephone support, please do get in touch to find out how you could join us and with your skills make a difference helping the NHS too. We will be providing free online training sessions in advance of going live. Please email my colleague Manisha who will be co-ordinating the next steps.

If you are not Go MAD trained, but an experienced business leader/coach passionate about making a difference please also get in touch via to register an interest in supporting the cause and getting early access to the app once it is released beyond the NHS to yourself or others.

Having had 30 seconds to read through the next steps, is your reason why strong enough to make a decision and help? If you have decided you can spare some time and would like to help, then please let us know. Or, share this e-mail with colleagues who you believe might be interested - particularly if they are Go M.A.D. trained and/or furloughed looking to volunteer their skills and time.

And now for something completely different…

Would you like some free help and practical ways to move yourself and your team forwards?

In 30 days, the world will have changed once more. So, to help you get focused over the next 30 days I will be running two free live webinars to share the best practical insights I have gained over the past 30 years as a change consultant and performance coach. I have distilled these insights, together with key points from five of my most popular books, into a turbo-charged 1-hour presentation which will be followed by a 20-minute Q & A.
